Presidents report: Discussed talking with Senator Rick Olseen. Senator Olseen
would like to have a tour of the prison and talk with the staff
that do the front line work here. We are excited
to work with Olseen and Representative Jermey Kalin.
Discussed the policy for Bereavement leave and sick leave.
We do not approve of mgts. interpretation
of both policies. Staff that have
questions should contract a Steward.
HR has asked our local if we would be ok with going to a
electronic bidding system. This is the same system that Mooselake uses and it works well for
them. Our local would support trying this system.
We discussed the upcoming negotiations. We would like the
delegates to bring back information so we can get that out to
staff. There was much discussion regarding CO vs. State
time. We have had a lot of feed back that does not support
the current purposel. Eric has
relayed all of the E-mails and feed back to the delegates for their Jan 20th
meeting.
VP report: We won two grievances:
1. One regarding a staff returning to work from a leave and was
told they had to go home because the proper paper work did not get to the watch
commanders.
2. One regarding the wrong information on smart staff, so the
employee came to work was told they were here at
the wrong time. ( Monetary time will be paid to the
staff )
We lost two grievances:
1. One was a sick leave timing issue ( Being put on doctors slips)
2. One was for a Lt not calling a staff into
work for a overtime shift from the watch center call in list.
We had one officer Non-certified. ( We
will appeal this)
One officer was granted a resignation.
We have $23,740.32 in our account
Our $15,00.00 in CD's have earned $793.99 in
interest. Our accounts are up to date.
Old business: Last month the motion was made to have our treasure,
and Three trustees attend financial
training. They will be paid the Per-Deum rate, registration, and millage. This motion passed
New business: The motion was made at the 2nd meeting that
reads "For negotiations after Jan 20th 07, approved members attending the
negotiations will receive $150.00 per diem for each
day attended. This would replace lost wages. If you do not
attend you receive no pay from the union. This pay would come
through council 5." This motion will be voted on at the
first meeting on Feb. 6th. Millage would
still be paid to the delegates that attend the meetings.
